ITENE (Instituto Tecnológico del Embalaje, Transporte y Logística) is a leading research center based in Spain, dedicated to advancing knowledge and developing innovative solutions in sustainable materials, packaging, logistics, and environmental impact. With extensive expertise in air quality assessment, ITENE specializes in monitoring airborne pollutants, characterizing ultrafine particles (UFPs) and micro-nanoplastics (MNPs), and evaluating their effects on human health and ecosystems. The institute combines state-of-the-art analytical techniques with multidisciplinary research to support industries and policymakers in addressing environmental and public health challenges.  

Within the UPRISE project, ITENE plays a key role in assessing the contribution of airborne MNPs to overall air pollution and investigating their potential impact on adverse birth outcomes. By leveraging advanced detection and characterization methodologies, ITENE contributes to the understanding of exposure pathways and risk factors, ultimately supporting evidence-based policy recommendations to enhance air quality standards and public health protection
